Ludicrous, Outlandish, Poisoned

On Thursday, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Germany's Foreign Minister, made his appearance before the parliamentary commission investigating the role of the BND, the German intelligence service in the Iraq war.

From Spiegel's report, it seems that he gave an assertive performance:
Repeatedly, he called the investigative committee 'naïve' for believing that the new US military comments weren't politically motivated. He called US comments 'ludicrous' and 'outlandish.' He said that the military praise of German intelligence was 'poisoned.'
It would be interesting to know who and what he thinks is behind these 'politically motivated' comments.
