Kandinsky

The Lenbachhaus which featured in an earlier posting is scheduled to close in Spring 2009 for major renovation work which will not be competed until 2012.

The museum is going out in style with a major exhibition bringing together its own extensive collection of Kandinsky's works and other works from Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The exhibition opened in October and runs until 22 February.

As well as the collection of 90 works on display at the Kunstbau, the Lenbachhaus is showing the complete collection of Kandinsky's graphic art. The galleries will also continue to show works by the Blue Rider group.

I haven't made it to the exhibition yet but hope to get there in the New Year. If you are in Munich or are visiting the city before the end of February I would highly recommend a visit to the Lenbachhaus - one of Munich's very best museums.
